Tal Geffen

About me: I arrived in Berlin in 2018 to pursue my doctorate in neuroscience, and since then, I’ve spent countless hours at the local hospital’s psychiatric department - Charité. However, it’s not just my studies that have kept me here. The city’s rich history, internationality, and unparalleled sense of freedom have all captured my heart. I’m particularly interested in exploring Berlin’s history and questioning German society, culture, and memory (see below). I’d love to introduce you to the city through my eyes and share my unique perspective. Join me on an unforgettable journey through Berlin, where I’ll show you everything that makes it one of the world’s most exciting destinations. Discover the city’s complex past, present, and future as we explore its cultural and societal nuances.

More about me in the Jewish context: Beyond personal interest in Jewish wars, today and also in the 19th century (e.g., splits in the community due to the introduction of the organ; the embarrassment among German Jews with the arrival of Eastern European Jews), I also deal with history relevant to the subject professionally (post-doctorate on how the professional staff - today - at the Charité Hospital in Berlin deals with the hospital’s past in the 1930s and 1940s).
