Kristoffer
My name is Kristoffer Olsen, and I’m originally from Denmark. Today, however, I proudly consider myself a true Berliner. My family and I have embraced this fascinating city, so rich in world history, as our home. My three children were born and are growing up here, speaking German as their first language—even though neither my partner nor I are native speakers.
For the past two years, I have dedicated myself to exploring, understanding, and sharing Berlin’s rich history as a professional tour guide. With a master’s degree in Geography focused on cities and development, Berlin holds a special place in my heart. Since childhood, I’ve been passionate about history, although I initially pursued a career in logistics, thinking it offered broader opportunities. Yet, after several years working in business, I realized my true calling lay in history. Inspired by a close friend, I decided to follow my passion and began leading my own bike and walking tours in Berlin.
Today, being a tour guide feels like a privilege and an ongoing journey of discovery. Whether delving into the hand-to-hand combat of Berlin’s final days in World War II or uncovering the nuanced and often difficult life stories of the city’s Jewish residents, I strive to bring anecdotes, personal perspectives, and little-known details to my tours.
My areas of expertise include the Berlin Wall, the Cold War, and life in the GDR. I also love introducing my guests to the historical and cultural significance of iconic landmarks, such as the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, Museum Island, and the Reichstag. Sharing Berlin’s layered stories with visitors is not just a job—it’s my passion.
