Klaus Wehner

Klaus Wehner

My name is Klaus, and I am originally from Koblenz. I grew up in Cold-War, divided Germany, about 50 km from Bonn, the interim capital of West Germany. With family on both sides of the Berlin Wall, I was deeply familiar with the political complexities and human hardships of the partition and border crossings. Today, I am truly delighted to live in the capital of a reunited Germany. Having been an enthusiastic visitor to Berlin all my life, I settled permanently in wonderful Kreuzberg in 2019.

For a large part of my life, I lived in London, where I studied Photography and completed a PhD in Fine Art, focusing on Museum Studies. Alongside being a practicing and exhibiting artist, I worked as an art teacher in a private school in Central London.

I’ve always been drawn to the charm of Berlin—the ‘Berlin Bug,’ as I like to call it. I’m captivated not only by its truly vibrant, diverse contemporary culture, but also by the city’s turbulent and fascinating history.

Now living by Berlin’s most beautiful bridge, the Oberbaumbrücke, I specialise in guiding tours in my own ‘Kiez’: the neighbourhoods of Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain. Gastro Tours have become one of my specialities. Over the years, I’ve hosted numerous foodie-tours, including my signature 'Wrangelkiez Gastro Tour'. Starting right outside my door, this tour features my personally curated selection of restaurants, where I personally know the owners and staff—a truly insider experience. Another unique offering is a walking tour through Friedrichshain, concluding with a boat trip on the River Spree, beginning at the Oberbaumbrücke.

My Museum Island Tour is another highlight, drawing on my academic background in art and Museology, the study of museum practices.

More of my tours are: “Mythological Kreuzberg”, “Friedrichshain!”, “Berlin: Melting Pot of Cultures”,  “Bowie’s Berlin: A Walking Tour through Sound and Vision”, “Museum Island: A Museum of Museums”, “History and Memory at the former Concentration Camp Sachsenhausen”, “The Karl Marx Allee”, “Buildings as Artworks: Schinkel’s Architecture in Berlin Mitte”, “Kreuzberg: Wrangelkiez Gastro Tour”, “Queer Berlin History Tour”

These and other tours along with those of some of my colleagues, you can discover on my booking site:
