My name is Heather and I am originally from Pennsylvania in the United States, but I have been calling Berlin home since 2005. I graduated from Penn State University with bachelor’s degrees in History and Jewish Studies, and then from Brown University with a master’s degree in Modern German History.
I have been working as a guide every summer (and some winters!) since 2006. I began my career with Original Berlin Walks, where I learned a great deal and made some wonderful friends. After a few years, I moved on and started working for SPB Tours, a company which specializes in cruise ship tours from the Baltics. I am their head guide in Berlin and I really enjoy the challenge of showing my groups all the most important sites in a short period of time. I have also started working on my own with private clients through recommendations and word of mouth.
I am a founding member of the Berlin Guides Association and have been serving in various capacities on the board ever since its creation in 2014. I am currently the President and am really proud of the professional organization that we have built.
Beyond the Berlin highlights, my specialities are the Jewish history of Berlin, the Nazi history of Berlin, as well as the idea of memory in the city, which includes all the monuments that have been built here. I feel incredibly lucky that I get to share Berlin’s history with visitors, and I enjoy every moment of it. The city is so dynamic and always changing, which gives me more to explore and to share with my guests. I love Berlin more than anything and my goal is for you to love it after your stay too!!
