My name is Johann and I’m originally a Dutch history student who moved to Berlin a couple of years ago for personal reasons. During my education as an historian, I specialized mostly on the Third Reich and Classical Civil Engineering. This is why I feel right at home in Berlin.
Since 2015, I offer tours for individuals, small groups, and schools though my private agency:
I offer a variety of special tours that you won’t find easily elsewhere, such as:
– Music History Tour: I’ll show you all the spots where Berlin’s history wrote music’s history and vice versa.
– Queer Tour – I’ll show you the sports where the LTGB culture was, where it is now, and where it was almost destroyed.
– Berlin Alternative – I’ll show you what Berlin is for Berliners, as well as what Berliners don’t want to be shown, like where they hang out, so you can experience why Berlin is more than just tourist highlights.
– Sachsenhausen – I am a licensed guide at the former concentration camp.
Of course I offer the Berlin Highlights, Cold War Tour, and Jewish History Tour as well.
Another of my specialities is organizing multi-day excursions for those who spend several days in Berlin, whether on your own, with a school group, or even your work colleagues. I can offer you guided tours over multiple days and go on different types of tours using different types of transportation. Depending on your group’s wishes and the weather, I can be flexible and switch between bus, bike, foot, or even boat. This ensures that your group will have the best possible experience in Berlin and isn’t limited by pre-arranged plans.
Although I’m a trained schoolteacher, you will not get a boring history lesson with me. I love Germany, but see it with a critical eye. I will give you the un-sugarcoated truth with humor, even when it hurts a little. I will tell history as it is, including the stories the Germans don’t like to share.
So book me for your event or excursion and I will make sure you get an unforgettable Berlin experience during one, two, or many tours.
