Johann van Gruting

I’m an originally Dutch ‘History-Major’ who moved to Berlin a couple of years ago, for personal reasons. During my education as an historian I emphasized mostly on the ‘Third Reich’ and ‘Classical Civil engendering’. This is why you can see I feel right at home in Berlin.

Since a couple of years I offer tours though my private agency:

www.Doggybagtours.com

for individuals, (small)groups and schools. We offer a variety of special tours that you won’t find easily elsewhere. Such as:

A ‘Music tour‘: we’ll show you all the spots where Berlin’s history wrote Music’s history and vice versa.

A ‘LTGB tour‘ showing you the sports where the LTGB culture was, where it is and where it was almost destroyed.

A ‘Berlin Alternative‘ what is Berlin for the Berliners. We’ll show you what Berliners don’t want to be shown. Where they hang out, why Berlin is more than just our tourist highlights.

An other of our specialities is:

A ‘Multi-day-excursion‘ when you visit Berlin for a couple of days with your group; be it a school or your colleges, we offer you a guided tour on multiple days. We can than use different ‘tour media’ as in different means of transports.

Depending on the weather or the group’s dynamic we have the flexibility to switch between:

– BUS

– BIKE

– WALK

– SHIP

This ensures that your group will have the best of the days in Berlin and aren’t forced on a sunny ‘bus-tour’ and a rainy ‘Bike-tour’.

Although I’m a trained schoolteacher you will not get a boring history lesson with us. We are all very German critical Germany lovers. That ensures that we will give you the un-sugarcoated truth with humor, even when it hurts a little. We will tell history as it is, and also the  history and stories the Germans don’t want it to be told, however strange that sounds.

So book me for your event, or excursion and me and friend will make sure you get an unforgettable Berlin experience in one, or more tours.
