My name is Jo Eckardt. I grew up in the Rhine region in West Germany and then moved to the US for almost two decades. I taught German at NYU and studied Social Work. In 2001 I returned to Germany. Since I had visited Berlin every summer during the 1980’s (this was before the Wall came down) I knew that this is where I wanted to live. I haven’t regretted my decision ever, I love Berlin. It’s vibrant, full of great energy, it’s also laid back in some way, and a great city to raise children in.
In 2004 I started to do tours and I soon realized that this was a great way to stay connected with people from the US, and from other countries of course, and at the same time to closely follow all the trends and changes Berlin is going through.
Jo is also responsible for A Friend In Berlin.
